Family planning, desire to have children and fertility in older woman

Older couples who wish to have children are not the exception in gynecological practice. It is crucial for these patients to commence basic diagnostics as soon as possible and to start the required treatment immediately. It is also of fundament importance to estimate the slender prospects of success of conventional therapies, such as clomiphene stimulation and intrauterine insemination, realistically.Care should be taken not to spend too much time on measures that have little prospect of success.

From the beginning, couples should be made aware of the limited perspective, even if advanced techniques such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and controlled ovarian hyperstimulation are employed.
