Abstract

Infertility in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

The polycystic ovary syndrome is one of the most common endocrine diseases. Besides ovarian dysfunction, many women suffer from metabolic disturbances. In cases with insulin resistance, metformin is applied to decrease insulin levels. In women with anovulation Clomifen is used. It is suggested that women with insulin resistance and anovulation benefit from a combination treatment with metformin and clomifen. Recent data show an increase in pregnancy- and life-birth-rate by this combined treatment.
