Abstract

Legal aspects of egg cell and sperm donation

The medical progress allows in areas of the reproductive medicine a lot of treatment methods which are defeated by no general social consensus. The wish for the child and ethical aspects stand, on this occasion, often in the contradiction. Because there are no uniform international regulations, patients travel to the treatment in neighbouring countries.

In Germany many methods of treatment like transfer of more than three embryos per attempt of treatment, transfer of fertilised not own ova or to carry out the conception of an ovum to cause the pregnancy of a woman from the ovum does not come, are forbidden.

Nevertheless, the conditions and legal results of permissible technologies of treatment are not regulated.
