Abstract

Reproduction in advanced maternal age

Many women postpone motherhood due to professional or private reasons and are not aware how much their fertility decreases with advanced age. The reduced fertility is due to a decreasing ovarian reserve and oozyte quality at increasing risk for chromosomal abnormalities. An evaluation of ovarian reserve and other fertility-reducing factors should be performed in woman over the age of 35 after six months, in women over 40 years already after three months of infertility. The following article will present the causes, investigational parameters and treatment possibilities of infertility in elderly women.
