Abstract

External cephalic version

External cephalic version for babies in breech position is recommended by many guidelines because it is a safe procedure. The success rate is approximately 50 to 60%. Successful cephalic version reduces the chance of cesarean section. A cephalic external version can be offered from 36+0 weeks of gestation under tocolysis and where immediate cesarean section is available. The possibility of prediction of success is limited, the rate of contraindications is low.
