Endovaginal sonography of the endometrium

Endovaginal ultrasound represents the main diagnostic tool in the examination of the organs of the female pelvis. Benign and malign diseases could reliable come apparent by sonography.

The examination has to maintain high standards. By high quality transvaginal ultrasound is able to diagnose early development of endometrial cancer and its precursors as well as benign alterations like polyps. Besides measuring the thickness of the endometrium, the detailed examination of the endometrial-myometrial junction (EMJ) is essential.

The atypical bleeding patient should be examined by transvaginal ultrasound first to avoid unnecessary invasive procedures.
