Sonographic diagnosis of ovarian cancer

Transvaginal sonography represents the main tool for diagnosing adnexal masses. To discriminate ovarian masses is difficult and affords a high standard of technology and experience. A two-step strategy seems to be efficient for diagnosing ovarian cancer without inducing too much unnecessary invasiv procedures. Even under a two-step strategy including the subjective assessment of an expert there remain kinds of ovarian masses not definitely to classify. Typical patterns of benign and malign ovarian masses are illustrated.
