Polycystic ovary syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogenous disorder with widespread systemic manifestations affecting 6 to 10% of women in reproductive age. PCOS is associated with hyperandrogenemia and anovulation. This paper examines the recent literature in order to give an overview about diagnostic and therapy of PCOS. Obesity, insulin resistance and metobolic syndrome are emphasised as important determiner in PCOS.
